A Little Bit About Me

I’m a mother of three human children. Chronologically they’re almost grown at 21, 19 and 16, but they’ll always be my babies. I also care for three fur kids–two dashingly handsome tomcats and one derpy dog.

My educational background includes a B.S. in Exercise Science from Tulane University in New Orleans in 2000 and a M.S. in Applied Psychology from Arizona State University in 2014. (Yes, that was a hell of a stretch between stints at school, I know).

Work Experience

2000

To date

I was an Aerospace Physiologist in the Air Force; commissioned in 2000 and retired in 2020.

My career in the Air Force started right before 9/11 and ended with the advent of COVID. Them’s some crazy bookends.

In my 30’s I ran 10Ks and competed in bodybuilding. I continued to run and train as a bodybuilder for about ten years but haven’t competed again. I’ve had a passion for fitness since I was 12 and my career in the Air Force reinforced it.

As an Aerospace and Operational Physiology officer, I started out teaching traditional aircrew about the effects of flight and aerospace on their physical performance and ended working with remotely piloted aircraft aircrew to help them sustain and enhance their cognitive performance.

Currently, I work as an independent consultant and work primarily with a fatigue risk management firm and teach Applied Sports Psychology at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas.

These personal and professional experiences have all informed my perspective and my approach: application. I love helping my clients get insight into how the systems they have in place affect their employees and how to apply existing guidance and regulations to the workplace and therefore enhance employee safety and conserve resources. I also love guiding my students, who are aspiring strength and conditioning coaches, athletic trainers, physical therapists and occupational therapists, learn to apply familiar theories to help their clients achieve peak performance.

I am skilled and adept at explaining the WHY and WHAT but I am particularly talented at helping individuals and organizations understand the HOW. My philosophy is aligned with making small incremental and sustainable changes rather than broad, large, and unattainable goals. I also firmly believe we deserve to enjoy our lives and to make changes with that end goal in mind.

Thank you for taking the time to read this short bio and I look forward to working together to increase your enjoyment of your retired life.

I am grateful that you’re here.
